Our Mission

The mission of the Beachwood Middle School counseling department is to empower all students to reach their full potential within a safe and affirming learning environment. Through comprehensive programming, personalized support, and student-focused collaboration, we lay the foundation for student success. We are committed to preparing all students for a global future by focusing on career readiness, academic achievement, and healthy social-emotional development.

A school counselor is an educator who:

  • Advocates for student needs
  • Provides individual and small-group counseling
  • Works with school staff and families to provide helpful suggestions and support 
  • Provides classroom guidance for every class
  • Helps in identifying academic and social/emotional needs of children
  • Helps children understand themselves and others
  • Provides information on community resources that benefit students
  • Makes referrals to outside agencies
  • Provides parents with resources and information
